Good, Busy.

How’s it going? Conversations about what we don’t usually say.

You say “good, busy.” It’s probably true.

Also true, and rarely part of the answer:

Not sure if the career you’re in is the one you want.

You had dinner at your buddy’s condo, then went home to your rented studio.

You ask about other people’s plans more than anyone asks about yours.

You’re not sure who you’d talk to about any of this.

How are you 32 already?

Most of us decide to keep these thoughts to ourselves. Good, Busy is six evenings with a handful of other men, saying them out loud.

What it is

Six to eight men who mostly don’t know each other. Six evenings on video, 75 minutes each, one topic a night. Beforehand I send something short to read or watch, fifteen or twenty minutes, with a few questions to think about. Then we talk, less about the piece than about what it brought up.

The six nights

Origins - What you were told, and where it still runs you.

What You’re Chasing - Whether you picked your ambition or inherited it, and what happens if you get it.

Friendships - Who’s there.

Money - What you have versus what you thought you’d have by now, and what it says about you.

The Role - What the people closest to you count on you to be.

The Scoreboard - Who you measure yourself against, and what the measuring costs.

What it isn’t

Therapy. Nobody’s here because something’s wrong with them.
A retreat. We’re not getting naked or having a drum circle.
A debate club. You aren’t here to be right.

Who it’s for

Men who say they’re fine and mean it. Decent job, maybe a partner, a life that looks put together and mostly is. I do ask three things: come to all six, never say who said what, and be honest.

If you’re going through something acute right now, this isn’t built for that, and I’m happy to point you toward something that is.

Who runs it

I’m a coach, and I’ve spent a lot of time in conversations like these. But Good, Busy isn’t group coaching, and you’re not my client. My job is to bring the topics, hold the ground rules, and push us to be honest, even a little uncomfortable. Beyond that, I’m part of the group. I answer the same questions as everyone else.

What it costs

Nothing to join. At the end, I’ll ask you to pay what you think it was worth, if anything. That’s it.

Joining

This is the first time I’m running this, so I will ask for honest feedback at the end.
The Details: Tuesdays, 8-9:15pm ET: October 20th and 27th, November 10th and 17th, December 1st and 8th.

There are eight spots. Sign up by October 9th with a short form, and I’ll get back to everyone personally.
